Nasdaq Helsinki, formerly known as the “Helsinki Stock Exchange”; It is the largest stock exchange in Finland. It has been operating under the umbrella of Nasdaq Nordic since September 3, 2003. OMX Helsinki (OMXH) after the OMX merger, then NASDAQ OMX Helsinki after NASDAQ’s acquisition of OMX in February 2008, and now ultimately referred to as “Nasdaq Helsinki”. Finland Helsinki Stock Exchange Companies and Shares
The first transaction in the Helsinki Stock Exchange was carried out on October 7, 1912. From that date until 1984 it remained a “free form” financial association and operated as a cooperative mostly owned by banks, merchants, other companies and associations. On April 1, 1990, trading was moved to a new digital system: HETI (Helsinki Stock Exchange Automated Trading and Information System). It turned into a limited liability company (Helsingin Arvopaperipörssi) in the autumn of 1995 and merged with several clearing and exchange companies and associations in early 1997. In 1997 and 1998, the Stock Exchange acquired both Finnish derivative exchanges. It changed its name to HEX Plc in the spring of 2001. In 2001 and 2002, HEX purchased the majority shares of Tallinn Stock Exchange and Riga Stock Exchange. On September 3, 2003, HEX Plc merged with OM AB, the owner of the Stockholm Stock Exchange, and a year later the company was renamed OMX.
OMX Helsinki 25 (OMXH25) is a stock market index for the Helsinki Stock Exchange. It is a market value weighted index consisting of the 25 most traded stock classes. OMXH25 is also known by its former name HEX25. As of March 2006, there are two listed traded funds and both are index funds for the OMXH25 index. The Helsinki Stock Exchange, where large companies such as Nokia are traded, is traded between 10:00 and 18:30 every day of the week except Saturday and Sunday.
