Founded on April 3, 1937 by the then Prime Minister İsmet İnönü and operating as a public institution for 58 years, Karabük Iron and Steel Factories was privatized in 1995 and renamed Kardemir. It is Turkey’s first integrated iron and steel factory and the only company that produces long products based on ore.
Kardemir, which has carried out the project, manufacturing and assembly of many industrial facilities since its establishment, is known as the “factory making factories” in Turkey. Kardemir, whose shares are all traded on the BIST, ranked 26th in the latest “Turkey’s Top 500 Industrial Enterprises” 2019 report announced by the Istanbul Chamber of Industry.
