Nasdaq Stockholm AB, formerly known as the Stockholm Stock Exchange (Swedish: Stockholmsbörsen), is an exchange operating in the capital of Sweden, Stockholm. Founded in 1863, Stockholmsbörsen quickly became the largest Scandinavian Stock Exchange in those years. More than 300 companies were listed on the Swedish Stock Exchange in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Today, 30 companies are traded on the Nasdaq Stockholm Stock Exchange OMX Index. The Stockholm Stock Exchange was acquired by the OM futures exchange in 1998. OM merged with the Helsinki Stock Exchange in 2003 to form the current OMX. After that, the operations of the Stockholm and Helsinki stock exchanges were merged. Stockholm Stock Exchange, since 2008 Nasdaq, Inc. (formerly Nasdaq OMX Group) and part of the Nasdaq Nordic markets. As of October 2014, the name of the exchange was “Nasdaq OMX Stockholm AB”, but in 2015 it was renamed Nasdaq Stockholm AB. Before the introduction of electronic commerce on June 1, 1990, all commerce was carried out on the floor of the Stockholm Stock Exchange Building. Normal trading sessions are between 09:00 and 17:30 local time, every day of the week except Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, which are announced in advance by the Exchange.
