There was a natural disaster that shook Turkey deeply. On February 6, 2023, 2 major earthquakes occurred in Kahramanmaraş. The first earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 occurred at 4.17 am in Kahramanmaraş Pazarcık. Caught many people asleep. The second earthquake with a magnitude of 7.6 took place at 13.24, centered in Kahramanmaraş Elbistan.

While the two earthquakes were felt as a great shaking in many provinces, it deeply affected 10 provinces. The ten provinces most affected by the earthquake are as follows: Kahramanmaraş, Gaziantep, Hatay, Adıyaman, Şanlıurfa, Adana, Malatya, Osmaniye, Kilis, Diyarbakır. Immediately after the first 7.7-magnitude earthquake, another 6.4-magnitude earthquake occurred, which is thought to be an aftershock. The losses increased with the following tens of large and small earthquakes.

Thousands of buildings collapsed and thousands of people lost their lives in this great disaster. Even days after the earthquake (day 8), efforts are still underway to get people out of the rubble alive. However, debris removal work continues in buildings where no signs of life were found during the examinations. There are great destruction and loss of life in these earthquakes, which are described as the worst disaster in the history of Turkey. This earthquake in Turkey also caused shaking and destruction in some provinces in Syria.
